Glass Vessel Sinks

Glass is the most popular and most widely-available vessel sink material today. They come in different color combinations and can even have printed images placed between glass layers. They are relatively cheap, very easy to clean up and maintain. But they can also break fairly easily. Quick temperature changes drain over-tightening, improper installation and strong impact can cause it to crack or even shatter. If you would like glass vessel sinks, make sure that you choose one that is made of tempered glass as it will mostly likely not do damage on to your countertop in case it breaks. Of course a heavy object can break a glass sink. The rule of thumb is if something is heavy enough to break a glass sink, it would do the same thing to the common porcelain or enameled steel sink.
So how should you care for a glass vessel? Glass sinks are tough enough to withstand everyday wear and remain as beautiful as the day they were purchased, when treated correctly. They require no more special treatment than a standard porcelain sink. When water spots occur, a solution of vinegar and water will dissolve the spots. Abrasive bathroom cleaners are not recommended. Other common materials include ceramic, porcelain but are not commonly used as the former are plain-looking and need routine cleaning and maintenance.
